Recently, our team travelled to a proposed solar site in the Midwest to conduct a drain tile study. The goal: identify the types of drainage systems present and generate guidelines that the owner would incorporate into their project’s design.

The result: the owner was able to proceed in planning and pre-construction phases must more fluently by providing landowners and county commissioners with a clear path as to what they were up against and how they would address existing drainage systems within and surrounding the project boundary. Also, the owner was prepared for conversations with their EPC contractor prior to beginning the construction phase of the project. This analysis better prepared the owners for what implications the project would likely incur on the subsurface drainage systems throughout its construction and into operation.
